I found your blog while doing a search on Cara Courtney's name. Two of her limited edition photographs, dated 1994, turned up at my sister's place in Toronto - they had been misplaced by my brother-in-law while staying there a couple of years ago. (These things happen...) I didn't find anything about her on the web, so I don't know if she's still working in that medium. Anyway, if you still keep in touch, tell her that her work is still being admired and appreciated, and will soon be on its way to a new home in Halifax.

Thanks Danielle. You have the distinction of being the first person to post a comment on this site! I guess I should have had a prize ready or something...

You are correct I didn't move into film and "new media" until my second year at OCAD. I thought film was a great move because it encompassed story telling, music and imagery. I just didn't realize how expensive and time consuming it would be or how you have to rely on a lot of people to get the job done. You can't beat painting and drawing for getting something done fast and on your own terms.

Besides, if your drawing turns out horribly you can trash it and start again. Something you're hesitant to do once you've sunk a lot of time and money into a film.

As I remember your early days at OCAD it's interesting to see more of your work from there. I recall seeing only paintings from your first year.

Looking to seeing what other items you produced.
